Installation Complete: Washington County, Maryland Salt Storage Dome
80' x 80' Apex Series from Britespan Building Systems
The GC Fabric Building Division recently completed a salt storage dome for Washington County in Hagerstown, Maryland—helping the County strengthen winter maintenance readiness with an efficient, centralized setup designed for fast response when snow and ice hit. The project features an 80’ x 80’ Britespan Apex Series fabric building, providing 6,400 square feet of reliable bulk salt storage. It was constructed on a pad and pier foundation and paired with precast bunker panels to support smooth, high-volume loading and unloading. These independent bunker panels also promote better airflow, helping reduce condensation and keeping corrosive salt away from building components to extend the longevity of the structure.
Adjacent salt brining equipment and on-site brine production systems further enhance operations by enabling the County to mix, store, and deploy brine quickly and consistently. Together, the salt storage building and brining systems create an ideal winter maintenance workflow—improving efficiency, supporting proactive road treatment, and keeping crews ready throughout the season.
